Overview: A while back we decided it might be fun to see how Baby Boomers are doing. We thought it important to find out about their hopes, dreams, plans and expectations for their rapidly approaching golden years. It was a lot more work than we thought it would be. We left most topics open for essay answers and you all sure gave me an eye full! I agree that it is very important to maintain a sense of humor about ourselves because gloom and doom just doesn't quite fit the ME generation! It is very true, if the baby boomer interest survey had been a little better and smarter, I wouldn't have had to spend months on end sorting through and compiling synopses. I'm still not quite finished, but please book mark or save this page in favorites or do the next page for indexing. As topics change, more topics organized and summarized, more pages will come up. The most outrageous responses I received centered on the topic of relationships and sex. One man responded to a question regarding expectations for future sexual activity, "Oral sex on demand until I die." He actually used the BJ words but I've edited that a bit. A woman responded to the same questions like this: "Abolish erection dysfunction enhancement products". Conjures up an image regarding perspective doesn't it? Other contributors sent sobering thoughtful comments about their aging parents, bouncing back children, long term health and rehabilitation care, fears for our world and the safety of our grandchildren. As a group we are grateful for advancements and successes in health care but wonder how to measure choices reflecting quality of life. There are excellent contributions to topics like social consciousness balanced by the ME generation. Entertainment and Leisure topics were well attended and generated some good talk back. I found out what we like to read, watch and garden. How we spend our free time is a wide open frontier that includes travel with no children or grandchildren. Sports and exercise are important if it all can be accomplished on the golf course. Hobbies are a favorite of Baby Boomers and we explore new adventures with methodical reliability. As a 'species', Baby Boomers constantly give back and pay it forward. I like that about us! Many of us were girl and boy scouts and we are bonded to the commitment to 'do a good turn daily'.
