Passive Income is what you see here on this website.  You'll notice Google Ads on every page.  Sooner or later I'll collect some money from them.  It works something like this (I don't really understand the arithmetic involved):  Every time a visitor clicks on a Google Ad Sense link, a calculation happens in fractions of a thousand clicks.  Each fraction pays a different level of money, usually in half pennies or less.  You don't get paid until you accumulate a hundred bucks in your account.  I started this in March, 2007 and it only took me three months to accumulate enough for a payment.

How does it work?  Look at the side bar Google Ads on this page.  Google searches the content of each page and applies relevant ads.  This page will probably be filled with ads for passive income, pay per clicks, make money on the internet, etc.

I've been using the Google Ad Sense for content because it is pretty much idiot proof.  There are other companies providing opportunities for pay per click.  Yahoo is one and there are many more.  Feel free to explore these options that appear on this page.

One good thing about passive income is that you don't have to have a web site.  You can use your blog (weblog).  Google even provides blogs with instructions about how to add pay per click ads.  I think the key is to have content that someone will actually read.  Think about topics you are passionate and knowledgeable about.  It is forbidden to click your own ads so you have to have 'keywords' that attract readers from search engines.

If you are squeamish about giving out private information then choose a pay per click host that you feel you can trust.  Your social security or business ID is required.  As is your checking account number.  It about killed me to give out the ID numbers but I did set up separate checking account so that my entire worth can't be scooped away in a hacker attack.

Another avenue for Passive Income is Affiliate Advertising. These are ads from companies who pay you a commission if a buyer hits and pays for merchandise.  I see an awful lot of the affiliate ads on other web sites.  Idunno tho... I'm not seeing much action in that regard.  I've had affiliate ads on www.conniescorner.org since March, 2007 and so far my account balance is ZERO.  That's $0.00! I'll take the accountability for my failure to earn via affiliate ads.  I'm not ambitious or agressive enough.  This takes a lot of work and time searching through product listings and companies who want your attention.  You have to compare similar products for commission percentages.

Oh.. and here's the crazy thing: A customer clicks on your affiliate ad and reaches a company.  They think about it and then move on to another vendor (perhaps from the original affiliate or on their own).  Or perhaps they book mark the site to come back later.  Be forewarned!! You ONLY get paid  on affiliate ads if a customer clicks through your ad and buys something on THAT visit.  If they come back later through another search or save.... nada for you.

You can approach any on-line company for an affiliate relationship.  Many will post an affiliate link.  The best thing to do is to go to www.commissionjunction.com and sign up and get approved as an affiliate.  You have to have a web page somewhere because they will check.  After you are approved you can choose from thousands of companies and individual products.

I'd love to know how this works for you! Check out the offerings on the side bars of this and every page at Baby Boomer Bash!
